Lovundbåten museum

In the summer of 2017, archaeologists from the Tromsø Museum and the Norwegian Maritime Museum on the island of Lovund in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland unearthed an archaeological find of a boat. The find, which has been named Lovundbåten, is dated to the mid-15th century.

The museum will be open in Lovund by 2023. The museum is being built around an archaeological boat dated 1450 (at the time of Querini) .

Biological material was found in the boat that tells about the cargo it had and where it came from, and we also found parts of shoes, bags and textiles among the planks of the table. The museum and exhibition will be completed by 2023, and the boat itself, or the remains, we expect can be assembled by 2024.
